New CEO for Levira

June 29, 2016 07.52 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The media, cloud, broadcast and network services provider Levira has appointed Tiit Tammiste as it new CEO, effective August 1.

Commenting on the development, Tõnu Nirk, chairman of the supervisory board, said: “Tiit is a professional who is very well versed in telecommunications and has long experience in running an international business. These qualities will help him make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of all the business lines of Levira”.

Tammiste said: “I feel extremely positive about joining Levira’s highly competent team. Media and cloud services as well as broadcasting have a growing importance in our digitising society, and I will be happy to use my experience in the development of these fields”.

Tammiste worked as the technology director at Telia Eesti AS until May 2016, and before that at different positions in EMT and Eesti Telekom.

He is also a member of the board of the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL).

Levira announced the competition for a new CEO in April this year, when the former CEO Mart Einpalu resigned on his own accord on June 2. Until Tammiste will take up his appointment, member of the management board Aare Siimon will be acting as the CEO.

Tallinn-based Levira is the main TV and radio broadcast transmission provider in Estonia and offers TV play-out services for international TV channels and media companies.

Its customers include Turner, Sony, MTG, Discovery, EBU, ATEA, A-Data, Telia, Tele2, Elisa, ERR, Starman, Kanal 2 and TV3.
