The Polish public broadcaster TVP has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with BBC Worldwide for continued cooperation between the two parties.
Under the agreement, extended cooperation could include co-produced TV series and documentary films with a particular emphasis on Polish issues. TVP has also expressed an interest in the possibility of adapting certain formats and programmes found in the BBC Worldwide catalogue.
The LoI also envisages the mutual exchange and purchase of programmes found in TVP’s and BBC Worldwide’s libraries. In addition, TVP would like to benefit from BBC Worldwide’s support in training its staff in production, including news programming.
Commenting on the development, Jacek Koskowski, GM & VP BBC Worldwide, said: TVP has been an important partner for BBC Worldwide in Poland for many years. Our activity is not limited to television broadcasting and we are always looking for new opportunities to broaden the scope of our cooperation with the media”.
Jacek Kurski, TVP’s president, added: “BBC Worldwide is a serious and reliable partner for TVP. Thanks to this agreement, beyond cooperation in programming and distribution, we are expanding the field of mutual cooperation in the field of training, consulting know-how and audience research. I believe that this will benefit both employees of public television and the audience”.
