Aleksandr Zharov, the head of the Russian regulator Roskomnadzor, and Chris Marcich, the president of international affairs at the Motion Picture Association of America, have signed a protocol on cooperation.
In a statement, Roskomnadzor says the agreement was reached last week during the International Economic Forum in St Petersburg and develops a 2013 MoU in the sphere of the exclusive rights in the use of films.
The memorandum reflects the principles and rules of self-regulation in the interaction of rights holders with internet facilities, essentially protecting copyright on the internet.
It has already received the support of leading Russian rights holders’ associations and a number of large internet companies.
