Markiza Slovakia has won a first court ruling against the illegal distribution of its TV channels in the Czech Republic.
According to Parabola, the Slovak broadcaster, which is owned by CME, drew attention to the status of individual distributors and required them to delete its channels from their line-ups.
Instead, they could carry Markiza International, which offers the best content from TV Markiza and is fully licensed for distribution in the Czech Republic.
TV Nova, Markiza’s Czech sister broadcaster, has found itself in the same situation in Slovakia, with its channels being distributed illegally.
It, too, now operates a channel – Nova International – aimed specifically at viewers in its neighbouring market.
