Cable operators in Hungary have expressed their opposition to fees that TV service providers will have to pay RTL Klub and TV2, the country’s two leading commercial broadcasters, from July 1.
Quoting Világgazdaság, BBJ reports that the Hungarian Cable Communications Association (HCA) has sent a letter of protest to the regulator NMHH about the fees, which will amount to a net monthly HUF294 (€0.93) or HUF290 per subscriber and be payable by cable, IPTV, satellite and MMDS companies.
According to Ferenc Kéry, the president of the HCA, the association considers the fees discriminatory, not in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and not in the interest of consumers.
