Perform Group to launch OTT live sports service in Germany

June 16, 2016 10.12 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

DAZN Logo (Perform Group)UK-based media company Perform Group will launch a multiscreen OTT subscription service for sports fans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in summer 2016.

Dubbed All sports, one platform, DAZN will offer European football, US sports like NBA and NFL, tennis, handball, ice-hockey, darts and other sports live and on-demand for a monthly fee.

The web-video rights of the Bundesliga which Perform Group recently acquired will, as expected, become the flagship: From the 2017/18 season, DAZN will screen the highlights of all games of the first and second division Bundesliga 40 minutes after the final whistle.

The Netflix for sports-type service will also provide live matches of further European leagues including the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 from summer 2016.

DAZN will be accessible on all internet-capable screens, for example smart TV sets, tablets, smartphones, PCs, laptops and games consoles. The service will be offered in HD quality with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. Selected content will be provided in Ultra HD/4K.

“DAZN will revolutionise sports broadcasts through the internet. Consumers will finally be able to enjoy their favourite sports live and on-demand – on multiple devices, without overpriced packages and without long contractual periods,” said Simon Denyer, CEO of Perform Group.

Shortly before the launch in German-language Europe, DAZN will become available in Japan.
