Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has launched an investigation into the activities of two electricity companies, one of which is a subsidiary of the cable operator Multimedia Polska.
In a statement, it says that representatives of the two companies – Polski Prad of Warsaw and Multimedia Polska of Gdynia – are alleged to have misled consumers into signing contracts when visiting their homes.
It adds that it launched the investigation after analysing consumer complaints.
Multimedia Polska is one of the largest cable operators in Poland and has included energy in the list of services it offers since 2014.
As recently reported in Broadband TV News, it is currently believed to be a take-over target for Liberty Global.
