GoMedia extends to Virgin Trains

June 9, 2016 08.51 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Virgin TrainGoMedia, the on board entertainment provider, has extended its reach to Virgin Trains.

Passengers will be able to take advantage of the integrated infotainment system BEAM, delivered directly to their own devices including mobiles and tablets, where dedicated apps carry the content.

Virgin’s customised line-up includes blockbuster films from major Hollywood studios, TV, box sets, cartoons, games, and digital magazines.

Roger Matthews, managing director, GoMedia, says: “Our platform makes use of Virgin Train’s existing on-board Wi-Fi infrastructure, so not only can passengers stream great movies, TV shows and more over the trains’ Wi-Fi network, those passengers wishing to use off train connectivity for lower bandwidth data uses will find it to be far more efficient. With approval of the GoMedia platform from all major content owners, Virgin Trains can offer customers premium video programming from Hollywood studios, BBC Worldwide and more, contributing to an altogether outstanding customer experience.”

The content is being secured by Irdeto Rights on PCs, Macs and mobile apps on Android and iOS.

Go Media first launched on Eurostar in March 2016.
