Richard Alden, the former CEO of Spanish cablenet ONO, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman in Nairobi.
Alden took Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui to hospital telling officials that she shot herself at his home in Naiobi.
Ms Kinyanjui, who had received both gunshot and stab wounds, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There are conflicting reports as to the relationship between the former Deloitte executive and the security consultant. One report says the two were planning to leave to set up home on a farm recently purchased by Mr Alden; another suggests he was still living with his wife Martine.
Until November 2015 Alden had been the CEO of East African DTH operation Wananchi Group. He had joined Ono in 1998 developing the company alongside a number of other ex-Videotron executives from the UK.
