Swiss commercial broadcaster Schweiz 5 will launch a DTH channel for European satellite households.
Test transmissions have already commenced on Astra (19.2° East) on the frequency 11.273 GHz H (SR 22,000, FEC 2/3).
The regular launch on satellite will take place on July 1, 2016, CEO Peter Heeb told Broadband TV News. Until then, the domestic Swiss channel will be shown.
From July 1, 2016, a version of Swiss 5 composed for satellite viewers will be offered without esoteric programmes from 15.00 CET and without erotic content, Heeb announced. The focus would be on Swiss politics, music and sports.
The satellite transmission will remain unencrypted, stressed Heeb. The reason for the DTH move: “I simply wanted a free-to-air, unencrypted Swiss channel on Astra.”
