German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will launch arts and cultural channel Sky Arts HD in Germany and Austria on July 21, 2016.
The first programme, airing at 21.00 CET, will be eight-part original production Master of Photography. At the competition presented by Italian actress Isabella Rossellini, photographers from Europe fight for the title Europe’s Best Photographer and a €150,000 prize.
Sky Arts HD which focuses on areas such as music, literature, painting, theatre, photography, design and architecture will be offered within the Sky Entertainment package and transmitted via satellite, on selected cable networks and IPTV platforms.
As an introductory offer, the channel will be available to all Sky Deutschland subscribers at no extra charge until January 23, 2017.
Sky Arts programmes have been offered on demand through Sky Go and Sky On Demand (formerly Sky Anytime) in Germany and Austria since July 2015, preceding the launch of the linear channel.
In May 2015, Sky Deutschland confirmed to Broadband TV News that the channel already available in the UK, Ireland and Italy will launch in Germany and Austria.
