Google’s fledging subscription service YouTube Red is offering recent subscribers a free Google Chromecast.
YouTube Red, which removes advertising and provides some subscriber-exclusive content, is widely seen as struggling to gain early momentum.
It already offers a three-month trial at just $1.
Widespread reports in the US show a number of subscribers are receiving the free streaming device, though it’s not clear if a particular segment has been chosen to marker test the offer, or if new subscribers will later receive it.
YouTube Red made its debut in the United States in November 2014. It later extended its footprint to Australia and New Zealand.
