Magine’s TVOD service Plejmo introduces EST

May 15, 2016 13.19 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Ulrika Viklund - Managing Director PlejmoLocal streaming platform for movies in the Nordic region, Plejmo, has announced the extension of its offering with the launch of Plejmo Unlimited Access – a premium service that allows movie lovers to access titles prior to both TVOD and SVOD release.

Plejmo, which was acquired by cloud-based live TV service Magine in 2015, has built on its existing deals with studios such as Paramount, NBC Universal, Fox and SF, adding Electronic Sell Through (EST) rights. This allows for more than 2,000 movies to be available on demand, with new titles becoming available shortly after cinema release. Plejmo has the largest EST catalogue available in Sweden, and all registered users will be able to stream and download these movies before they become available on other streaming subscription services.

“In acquiring Plejmo, we took on a great team specialised in TVOD, who we believe can support a successful integration of on-demand content with Magine’s existing live TV offering,” said Ambuj Goyal, CEO of Magine.

“The introduction of Plejmo Unlimited Access is the next step in the journey to creating the very best experience for our viewers long-term.”

Ulrika Viklund, CEO of Plejmo added, “Plejmo Unlimited Access is an exciting new feature, and we are delighted that our users can now watch even more of the films they love where, when and how they want to, for a longer period of time and at a much lower cost. By offering 48 hour rentals as well as Unlimited Access, we hope to give viewers maximum flexibility with the very best content.”
