Freesat launches Wuaki.tv application

April 28, 2016 08.00 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Freesat has launched an app for the video on demand service Wuaki.tv on its platform.

Available immediately to all Freesat viewers with a connected set-top-box, Wuaki.tv offers instant access to a range of movies and TV shows.

The launch expands Freesat’s existing On Demand offering and makes an addition to the platform’s ten existing services, which include BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and Netflix. Through seamless integration of the service viewers are able to move between Freesat’s other features including live broadcast, recordings and Showcase recommendations.

Wuaki.tv will be available across Humax Freesat set-top-boxes including the HDR-1000s 500GB, HDR-1010s 1TB, HB-1000s and HDR-1100s.

“We’re delighted to launch Wuaki.tv on Freesat and further enhance our popular On Demand offering,” said Alistair Thom, managing director at Freesat.

“With over 200 subscription free channels now available, Freesat viewers are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to great entertainment. The new service will give viewers access to a fantastic line up of blockbuster films and TV shows, and best of all, you only pay for what you want to watch.”

Simon Homent, European content director at Wuaki.tv, said: “We are happy to be the only VOD service on Freesat that offers the choice to buy or rent the latest Hollywood movies and the best TV shows. We are confident that Freesat customers will highly appreciate this unique subscription free proposition within the overall satellite service.”
