Telekom Slovenije IPTV re-launch succeeds

April 26, 2016 09.03 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Telekom Slovenije-2The performance of Telekom Slovenije’s recently re-launched IPTV service has exceeded expectations.

Following a selection process, the telco selected XroadMedia last December to provide it with its cloud-based content discovery solution Ncanto.

The new service went live across Telekom Slovenije’s entire network in February, offering viewers personalised recommendations based on their viewing behaviour, interests and tastes in linear TV, VOD and catch-up services. Users can also access personally relevant content on all devices, delivered to them on the telco’s set-top boxes and mobile apps.

Commenting on the deployment, Adolf Proidl, CEO and Co-Founder of XroadMedia, said: “We are extremely proud to have been selected by Telekom Slovenije as their trusted partner. We were also impressed by their technical team, who integrated Ncanto into their service platform just within a few weeks – and with minimal help from our engineers.
“The first two months of operation also exceeded all our expectations, as we were able to double Telekom Slovenije’s audience using recommendations to more than 100,000 subscribers.”

Bostjan Stempelj, head of internet and multimedia services department at Telekom Slovenije, added: “One of the main reasons Telekom Slovenije chose XroadMedia’s Ncanto recommendation engine was certainly the promise of quick time to market, which did not disappoint. After only viewing the demo of the Ncanto recommendation, it was evident that just a few interactions by the end-user will result in relevant content recommendations.”

Telekom Slovenije operates one of the longest-established IPTV operations in the CEE region, the service having made its debut in 2003.
