It may have launched in February, but only now do we get a line from Ruwido that its behind the remote used by the new Sky Q entertainment system.
It’s a good win for the Austrian manufacturer, which has developed the Sky Q touch remote in partnership with the broadcaster, and will now see the product it had manufactured deployed in the three Sky markets.
“We are exceptionally proud to be a part of Sky Q and to provide an input device that is a joy to own and to use,” says Ferdinand Maier, CEO, Ruwido. “Our aim is to transform the way users interact with their television and how they feel about their viewing experience.”
The Sky Q touch remote combines a button-based input with a touch sensitive pad for scrolling through the user interface. Voice search functionality will be added at a later date.
It connects to the Sky Q box through infrared and Bluetooth Low Energy.
“We chose to work with Ruwido because they are passionate about combining leading edge technology and precise manufacturing in a way that could bring our design and aspiration to life for our customers,” says Andrew Olson, Sky’s director of new products. “We are delighted with the result.”
Those still awaiting their installation can see the remote on the Ruwido stand at TV Connect.
