Romania’s Ministry of Communications and Information Society (MCSI) expects Telekom Romania’s new CEO Miroslav Majoros to undertake “bold actions” in order to turn round the telco’s fortunes.
Quoted by ZF, ministry officials said it was primarily because its results were “below expectations” that his predecessor Nikolai Beckers was replace last year.
Telekom Romania, which is 46% owned by the Romanian state, saw its frevenue fall below €1 billion in 2015, while its profit slumped by 23% to €205 million.
Compared to 2013, when Beckers took charge, revenues were down by 3% and EBITDA by nearly 30%.
MCSI now expects his successor to take more steps than just increasing the telco’s budget by 35% this year.
