French satellite DTH platform Fransat, owned by Eutelsat, is to add HD versions of seven channels in the 20-channel optional pay bundles from Bis TV on April 25.
The channels are Action, RTL9, AB1, AB Moteurs, Animaux, Trek, and Science & Vie TV. Bis TV, a division of the broadcaster Groupe AB, is offering a bouquet of pay channels alongside the Fransat free-to-view offer of digital terrestrial channels.
The DTH platform broadcasts all the digital terrestrial channels as a service to those people who have no access to the DTT network, which is called TNT in France. Viewers need to buy a dedicated Fransat receiver, or a compatible CI+ module, and smart card for a one-off fee to watch the channels.
Fransat will switch to all-HD this April, 2016 and Bis TV is now making a number of its channels available in HD.
Bis TV is offering a EUR 30 rebate on the purchase of a Fransat HD set-top box for customers who are currently watching BIS TV in SD. New customers can also benefit from a EUR 40 rebate on the BIS TV subscription price.
