Ukraine’s National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting has banned the distributed of three further Russian channels in the country.
In a statement, it says that the channels in question – RTG TV (Russian Travel Guide), Retro and Kinoklub – failed to meet the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and the laws of Ukraine.
Quoting its chairman Yuriy Artemenko, it adds that distributors must “timey and properly” inform channel owners of changes in Ukrainian legislation so that they can respond.
Distributors have also to inform programme service providers of decisions taken by the council to remove channels from the list of foreign ones that comply with the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and the laws of Ukraine.
