Sky bags Turner kids package

April 14, 2016 11.41 Europe/London By Julian Clover

The Amazing World of GumballSky and Turner have signed a long-term deal that brings an exclusive package of favourite kids shows into its on demand service.

Shows including Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes, The Powerpuff Girls, The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time drawn from Cartoon Network, Cartoonito and Boomerang will be available through the recently launched Sky Kids app or the dedicated Sky Kids tile on the Sky TV homepage.

It’s further evidence of the importance of kids content as part of a pay-TV portfolio.

Lucy Murphy, Head of Kids Content, Sky comments: “Turner produces some of kids’ absolute favourite shows and we are really excited Sky will be the only place they can watch boxsets of The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time. We know how much our customers love Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito so it is great news that our relationship with Turner will be continuing for many years to come.”

The deal helps ensure Sky remains the best entertainment choice for children and their parents in the UK and Ireland. Sky has the widest range of live children’s channels, and the new agreement with Turner will also grow the number of on demand episodes of the most watched kids’ shows children can watch to 4,500.

Ian McDonough, SVP and Managing Director, Turner, Northern Europe added: “We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Sky. This is an important and much valued relationship, and a testament to our ongoing commitment to deliver the very best curated and connected Turner brand experiences for young audiences and their families.

The package will be available from May.
