Russia’s TV ad market grew by between 15-18% in the first quarter after having contracted by 14% to R136.7 billion (€1.8 billion) in 2015.
According to Kommersant, it could register growth of 3-8% this year providing growth in the next three quarters is above zero.
Juliana Slashcheva, the DG of the national commercial broadcaster CTC Media, provided the 15-18% estimate for Q1 and it was confirmed by Vi, Russia’s leading TV ad sales group, which quoted a figure of 16-17%.
Slashcheva added that irrespective of how the market performs in the remainder of the year, the first quarter has already contributed between 2.5-3% to its annual growth.
