M7 Group has concluded a satellite capacity and distribution agreement with Lagardère Active for the distribution of Mezzo Live HD.
M7 Platform Services will arrange for the secure satellite delivery of the classical music, opera, jazz and dance channel to third-party operators within the European footprint of Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9B satellite at 9° East.
The service scheme also includes the provision of smartcards and CI modules, 24/7 quality monitoring and helpdesk support to third-party operators.
As part of the agreement, Mezzo Live HD will be made available to subscribers of the M7 Deutschland cable and IPTV platforms in German-speaking markets from May 1, 2016, thereby gaining carriage on cable networks including Tele Columbus, Primacom and NetCologne.
“We are delighted to offer Mezzo Live HD to M7 customers. There is an obvious appetite for classical music in German-speaking culture, hence our diversified and high-quality programmes should undoubtedly attract both music lovers as the less initiated,” said Christophe Winckel, director of Mezzo.
Bill Wijdeveld, vice-president business development at M7 Group, added: “We are very happy with this new agreement with Lagardère, allowing our customers in the German-speaking markets to enjoy Mezzo Live in full HD quality. Furthermore, we are quite pleased to provide Mezzo Live HD with a high-quality and cost-efficient pan-European satellite distribution solution. We look forward to a successful partnership.”
