Molotov, the French OTT platform backed by French media veterans JeanDavid Blanc, Pierre Lescure and Jean-Marc Denoual, has said the service will debut on July 11, 2016.
A distribution agreement has been signed with Canal Plus Group for the carriage of D8, D17, iTélé as well as seven premium cinema channels from Ciné+ (Ciné+Premier, Ciné+Frisson, Ciné+émotion, Ciné+Famiz, Ciné+Club, Ciné+Classic et Ciné+A la demande.
“After months of hard work, user tests and analysis, we are very pleased to offer a new television experience this summer. One that is free and fully focused on what viewers expect from television in the 21st century. More than ever, we are convinced that television has an outstanding value proposition, provided it is delivered through the right user experience,” said Blanc.
It’s planned to make Molotov available across computers, smartphones, tablets and connected TVs. There will be close to 100 free-to-air and pay channels.
