Spain’s leading telcos have increased the cost of their basic integrated offers by around 5% in recent weeks.
Furthermore, reports El Economista, the three largest – Movistar, Vodafone and Orange – have each raised the fees they charge for their more expensive converged offers of fixed and mobile telephony, broadband and pay-TV by around €3 a month.
It adds that the telcos have justified the increases by saying they come alongside improvements to their services, such as more data and higher connection speeds.
The increases come just over a year the telcos raised their fees by between €2-5 a month.
Although growing competition from virtual operators and Yoigo was until recently forcing Spanish operators to lower their prices, the situation has now changed as they find themselves having to invest more in new networks.
