M-net selects ABOX42 for multiscreen IPTV platform

March 21, 2016 21.38 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

TV-Set-ABOX42-MNetGerman regional carrier M-net has chosen ABOX42, a German provider of set-top-box solutions for pay-TV, IPTV and OTT operators, as the technology supplier for its multiscreen IPTV service.

M-net employs the ABOX42 M20-series smart set-top-box platform for the recently launched IPTV service M-net TVplus which will be rolled out across its whole fibre-optic network in Southern Germany.

The ABOX42 M20 set-top-box platform is deployed in various projects worldwide. For the German market the feature set was extended to support functions required for domestic operators such as local multi-stream recording on USB Flash devices or USB hard-disk drives, local time-shift support, HbbTV support for all essential German broadcasters, on-demand and catch-up TV offers as well as the integration of video-on-demand service maxdome.

For its IPTV service, M-net adopted the combination of the ABOX42 M20 set-top-box platform with Zattoo’s multiscreen white-label IPTV solution selected by German cable operator association Deutsche Netzmarketing (DNMG) in 2015 to offer an end-to-end solution to its members.

“M-net is an ideal example of a modern operator managing the transformation to full IP services,” Matthias Greve, CEO of ABOX42, said in Karlsruhe. “To be able to roll out such demanding operator projects within a few months requires very experienced partners and a solid, scalable and customisable solution – and this is exactly what we provide.”
