Ukraine’s National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting (‘Rada’) has banned the distribution of 14 more Russian channels in the country.
In a statement, it says that the channels do not meet the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television, of which Russia is not a signatory, and Ukrainian laws.
However, the main reason is that they broadcast commercial advertising that does not comply with either European or Ukrainian legislation.
The channels include Ocean TV, HD Life, TDK, 24 Dok, STV, India TV, Evrokino, Drive and Mother and Child.
Rada also says that some of the channels feature persons that threaten the security of Ukraine.
Monitoring of foreign channels broadcast in Ukraine began in 2014 and, according to Rada, is an ongoing process.
