Ziggo has launched ‘Watch with Twitter’ app in the Netherlands, allowing viewers to follow the ten most trending live programmes with Tweets blended in on the same screen.
The app was developed jointly with Twitter and makes its debut on Liberty Global’s Dutch network, to be followed by a roll-out in other territories. The cooperation with Twitter was announced this February.
The app is only available to Horizon TV customers, who can now choose to follow live Tweets relevant to the programmes they are watching overlaid onto the TV screen. After scrolling through a carousel of live shows currently trending on Twitter, they can tune in to their favourite shows while following live Tweets on the same screen.
Announcing the launch of Watch with Twitter in the Netherlands, Peter Dörr, commercial director of Ziggo, said that soon there will be even more new apps available for the Horizon set-tops alongside the current 82 apps.
