Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media (CEM) is to consider the resignation of Georgi Lozanov, its chairman of the board and board member.
According to Novinite, he announced his decision to step down last month, citing a request for a licence for a new station named Pik TV.
It adds that he said he did not want to legalise the “aggressive and hostile rhetoric” used by the news agency Pik.bg, which is owned by the same person now wishing to launch the station.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Pik TV is backed by Nedialko Nedialkov, the owner of the sensationalist sites Pik and Blitz.
Novinite contradicts earlier reports that Pik TV, which is expected to make its debut on April 4, has already been awarded a licence by CEM.
