On April 8, 2015 at 8:48pm the French international broadcaster TV5 Monde fell victim to an unprecedented attack by a group of Russian hackers.
Within a few seconds, all its channels stopped broadcasting, and it also lost control of its sites and social profiles.
According to Frédéric Pereira on the website Fredzone, the bill of the attack has now reached “millions of euros”.
According to the website, the group has spent €4.6 million last year and estimates an additional €3.1 million will be spent this year.
It took the broadcaster eight hours to take control again of its media, after which during the six weeks that followed the attack, TV5 Monde saw the specialists ANSSI, the National Security Agency Information Systems.
All servers of the broadcaster as well as all workstation for the employees had to be replaced, as the whole infrastructure was compromised by the malicious attack.
