Around a half Spanish pay-TV homes now receive services via IP.
Data published by the regulator CNMC shows that at the end of Q3 2015 there were 2,717,924 such homes out of a total of 5,427,683.
The former figure compared to one of 1,665,765 in the corresponding period in 2014.
At the same time, the number of DTH homes fell from 1,597,311 to 1,233,829 over the period, while those receiving cable services increased from 1,131,602 to 1,262,168.
The terrestrial pay-TV figure of zero compared to one of 237,900 a year earlier and there was a significant increase in homes receiving pay-TV services – up from 94,532 to 213,762 – via other methods in the year to September 30.
Movistar was the leading provider of pay-TV services, with 3,939,263 subscribers, as of September 30, 2015, followed by Vodafone with 876,964 and Orange with 223,637.
