The 4,000 buyers present at this year’s MIPTV will include 1,000 from VOD and digital platforms.
Furthermore, the market will include a completely new event named Mipdrama screenings.
In a press event in London, it was revealed that Mipdrama screenings would feature 12 never aired programmes, with a big focus on Europe and the UK well represented. Invitation only, it will be attended by 350 buyers and the international press.
This year’s theme of MIPTV will be The Power of Fans. Furthermore, as in keeping with previous markets, there will be a focus on a specific region/territory, in this case Germany.
There will be a premier TV screening of Roots and international screenings of The Embassy and Intersection. There will also be a number of keynote visionaries speaking at the market, including Dominique Delport (Vivendi) and Guillaume de Posch (RTL Group).
MIPTV 2016 will take place in Cannes on April 4-7. It will be attended by a total of over 11,000 participants and there will be over 1,600 exhibiting companies, at least 70 of which are new.
