The National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine (‘Rada’) has been asked by its Polish counterpart KRRiT to help increase the number of Polish channels available in the country.
According to Rada, Jan Dvorak, the president of KRRiT, made the request in writing following repeated appeals to it from Ukrainian programme service providers and distributors.
Current legislation in Ukraine permits the distribution of only foreign channels that meet the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and Ukrainian law. Just four Polish channels – TV Polonia, TVP Info, TVP Historia and TVP Kultura – fall under this category.
Rada says that following relevant applications, it will work as quickly as possible in deciding which Polish channels can be added to the list of those available in Ukraine.
