Telekom Romania will reach 2 million households via its fibre network by the end of the year.
Speaking at the MWC in Barcelona and quoted by ZF, Claudia Nemat, a board member at Deutsche Telekom, added that while other countries have decided to implement a technology that allows for the improved delivery of data services via copper lines, the Romanian telco has decided to replace its old copper network with a fibre-optic one.
Given that the latter already reached around 1.3 million households as of mid-September 2015, this will represent an increase of 700,000 homes.
Telekom Romania’s fibre network allows for the delivery of IPTV services and internet download speeds of up to 1 Gbps,
