German cable operator Unitymedia has commenced offering its customers selected programmes of the pay-TV channels operated by commercial broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland as part of its video-on-demand service (VOD).
The catch-up content from RTL Crime, RTL Passion and RTL Living can be watched up to seven days after the original TV broadcast in full length. The subscribers of the corresponding linear TV channels can access the programmes at no extra charge.
Unitymedia has been offering catch-up content from free-to-air channels RTL and VOX since January 2016. Programmes from RTL II, Super RTL, RTL Nitro and n-tv will follow later this year.
The collaboration is based on the VOD agreement signed between the cable company and Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland in November 2015.
