The TV channel Indian media company Zee Entertainment Enterprises wants to launch in Germany will be called Zee One.
That’s reported by German financial newspaper Handelsblatt which hints that further channels such as Zee Two, Zee Three or Zee Four could follow. Zee Entertainment wants to invest a two-digit million euro figure in the German market, writes the paper with reference to industry sources.
The Munich-based free-to-air TV channel will show Bollywood movies, Indian TV series and entertainment programmes 24 hours per day. German original productions are also on the agenda.
Distribution is planned on all important cable and satellite platforms with carriage having already been secured on the network of Unitymedia, Germany’s second-largest cable operator.
Zee One’s managing director is Friederike Behrends, previously head of internet TV provider Magine TV in Germany. Andrea Lang, former vice president entertainment of German commercial channel RTL II, is head of programming.
Zee Entertainment plans to launch the channel by mid-2016.
