The acquisition of the cable operator Blizoo significantly increased Telekom Austria’s TV subscriber total in Bulgaria in 2015.
As of year’s end, it stood at 462,800, over five times the 84,300 posted 12 months earlier. There was also a sizeable increase in its fixed broadband retail access line total, up from 145,100 to 413,800 over the same period.
Meanwhile in Croatia, the corresponding figures were 188,700, up from 167,700, for TV subscribers and 200,200, up from 136,000, for fixed broadband retail access lines. In its home market, the company ended 2015 with 269,400 subscribers to A1 TV, up from 251,800 a year earlier.
Telekom Austria notes the Blizoo in Bulgaria was consolidated into its results on October 1 and Amis, operating in Slovenia and Croatia, exactly a month earlier.
Telekom Austria had revenues of €4,096.8 million in 2015 (+0.2% on the previous year) and EBITDA comparable of €1,370.9 million (+4%). Net income amounted to €392.8 million (n.m.) and capital expenditures €780 million (+3%).
Commenting on the results, Alejandro Plater, CEO Telekom Austria Group, said: “The Telekom Austria Group looks back on a year of intensive changes. Our efforts are paying off, as we were able to post a net profit of roughly €400 million for the full-year 2015, thus achieving the best set of full-year results of the past five years. This success could be achieved thanks to all employees of the Group. However, our industry is currently facing unprecedented upheavals on a global level. We must, therefore, invest in infrastructure, new technologies and know-how moving forward. This requires a solid financial basis and, above all, further growth”.
