Almost 60% of Polish internet users say the funding model of public service broadcasting (PSB) in the country should change.
In its latest study, MEC has found that only one in five (21%) respondents support the current funding model, with an equal number (21%) expressing no view.
On the other hand, 58% said a change was needed. Asked what this should be, the majority (55%) said finance should be obtained entirely from advertising and over one in four (26%) that commercial stations should pay a tax or levy to support PSB.
The study also found that close to 40% of respondents would be willing to pay a receiver licence fee of up to PLN10 (€2.27) a month to receive PSBs in their current form.
However, only 17% said it was worth paying a fee, with two-thirds opposed to the idea.
