Dutch incumbent KPN saw its fourth-quarter revenues down 8.1% year-on-year to EUR 1.75 billion, but grew its TV homes subscriber base with 69,000 homes.
The total number of TV homes now is 1,864,000, which combines all IPTV, FttH and DTT (Digitenne) subscriptions. Of these, just 381,000 are DTT customers of KPN’s Digitenne platform, down 99,000 from a year ago.
KPN’s broadband 40,000 net adds remained high in Q4 2015. Broadband market share grew to 41% (Q4 2014: 40%) and TV market share increased to 29% (Q4 2014: 26%). ARPU per customer remained stable at EUR44 in Q4 2015. Triple play net adds were 46k, resulting in 56% penetration of the broadband customer base (Q4 2014: 50%) and growth in the number of RGUs per household.
During the fourth quarter, KPN commercially launched Play by KPN, its innovative OTT TV application, while popular OTT-apps such as Netflix and YouTube have been integrated in KPN’s IPTV platform.
KPN said that 68% of its customers now enjoy 100Mbps coverage in the fixed network.
