The general directors of the regional affiliates of German public broadcaster ARD have decided at their latest assembly in Leipzig to support the refugee TV channel operated by Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW).
The Arabic-language channel will be provided with programmes by ARD. The coordination is currently underway. The 24-hour service reports from German and European perspective on current events and developments.
DW Arabia launched on the Astra satellite system at 19,2° East in Europe on December 15, 2015. The channel which will gradually be turned into an information and integration service for refugees is based on a cooperation with Astra satellite operator SES which provides the satellite capacity free of charge.
