Digital cable and IPTV services continue to gain in popularity in Hungary and were received in 40.5% of all pay-TV homes as of the end of last year.
Data published by the regulator NMHH shows that there were an estimated 3,479,000 pay-TV subscriptions, with the 10 leading market players accounting for 3,205,557 of the total.
The number of cable and IPTV subscriptions stood at 2,205,659, of which 1,299,570 were digital.
At the same time, there were 895,771 DTH and 104,127 pay-DTT subscriptions and the digital subscription total stood at 2,299,468.
Again, the market was quite evenly split between the three leading players, with UPC (26.9%), Telekom (25.4%) and Digi (24.3%) claiming the largest shares regardless of technology employed to deliver their services.
Invitel, the next largest player, had a market share of 4.5%.
