Unitymedia to add new TV channels

January 28, 2016 10.59 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Unitymedia_Hauptsitz_Koeln_25012016German cable operator Unitymedia will commence distribution of public TV channels KI.KA HD and Phoenix HD on its cable network on February 16, 2016; the signals will be unencrypted.

Unitymedia will then offer a total of 15 unencrypted HD channels with more to be added throughout the year.

Movie and series channel Universal Channel HD will also join Unitymedia’s line-up on February 16, 2016. The pay-TV service will be available to subscribers of the Digital TV Allstars package signed up for the HD option.

A completely new TV channel is multimedia information channel H2D Handshake2Deutschland. The TV offering for refugees and helpers wants to give practical assistance and orientation regarding life in Germany and German culture. The channel is currently in preparation and will be gradually expanded into a 24-hour service.

New on Unitymedia’s cable network is also teleshopping channel Sparhandy TV.

The German free-to-air channel planned by Indian network Zee TV will be carried from March 2016. All three additions will be distributed unencrypted.
