The Russian cable operator Akado plans to launch an OTT service this autumn.
Speaking at CSTB 2016 in Moscow and quoted by ComNews, its spokesman Denis Rychka said it will have finally decided on the equipment supplier for its interactive platform by the middle of the year, with a the service hopefully making its debut in the third quarter.
Rychka said that although Akado has been in negotiations with the largest solution providers for the last two years, it has been difficult to compete with leading telecom holdings, including the big five pay-TV operators.
He added that the company would chose a platform that will allow it to be a step ahead of the market. It also wants to probvide viewers with unique content.
