Ericsson has launched a new analysis toolkit for the TV sector. It says Integrated Video Insights will help media players aggregate and analyze large amounts of data derived from users, video platforms, and networks.
Guy Beverlin, SVP & head of Global TV & Media Practice at Ericsson, told Broadband TV News that the insights would run the full length of Ericsson’s video services, across signal delivery, Media First, CDN and Network DVR.
Giving an example of the type of services Video Insights would be able to handle, Beverlin said the system would be able to offer personalised content recommendations, while also being able to spot any weak point in the customer’s video chain.
Earlier this week, Ericsson announced the purchase of Texas metadata firm FYI Television: “It’s early days as to how FYI will fit in, but metadata needs content, and FYI will dovetail very nicely,” said Beverlin.
