The Russian part of Viasat group will start designing its six movie channels locally from next month.
Quoting a statement by the company, Cableman reports that the channels in question – TV1000, TV1000 Russian Cinema, TV1000 Action, TV1000 Premium HD, TV1000 Megahit HD and TV 1000 Comedy HD – were previously produced out of London.
The move is aimed to further grow the popularity of the channels by making them more relevant to Russian viewers.
Viasat was sold by Modern Times Group (MTG) for $45.5 million last October.
The buyer of the international part of the business, operating in Ukraine, the Baltic Republics and Israel, was Sabiero Holdings Limited, while the Russian part of the business was bought by Synergy, a company believed to have links with Baring Vostok.
