Key sports content deal in Poland

Cyfrowy PolsatCyfrowy Polsat, the sports channel Polsat Sport and Grupa Onet-Ringier Axel Springer (RASP) have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement.

Under it, sports content produced by Telewizja Polsat and the VOD service ipla will be shown by the portal Onet and Onet-RASP sports services. The agreement officially began with coverage of the Men’s EHF Euro 2016 (European Handball Championship), taking place in Poland from January 15-31.

Commenting on the development, Maciej Stec, board member, Cyfrowy Polsat and Telewizja Polsat, said: “Thanks to the wide reach of the channels Polsat Sport, Polsat Sport Extra and Polsat Sport News, as well as the portal Onet and editorial production experience of Polsat Sport, polsatsport.pl and ipla.tv, viewers and internet users well have access to the highest quality of content and most important sporting events.

“We combine the excellent knowledge of the TV and internet market held by the Cyfrowy Polsat group and Onet-RASP in the production and publication of sporting material and sale of advertising space”.

Aleksander Kutela, CEO, Onet.pl group, added: “Cooperation with the Polsat Group is the next activity that fits into our strategy of providing users of the Grupa Onet-RASP services the best and mots current content offer on the market.

“Thanks to then cooperation with the Polsat group our users will gain access to many unique materials and the most important Polish and international events, which will excellently complement the offers of the Onet-RASP services”.
