Over 40% of digital TV subscribers in Hungary now opt for cable or IPTV services, according to the latest data published by the regulator NMHH.
It shows that as of the end of November 2015, based on information supplied by the 10 leading providers, the number of TV subscriptions in the country stood at 3,194,120.
Based on eight major market players, the total number of cable and IPTV subscriptions amounted to 2,194,504, of which 1,282,677 were digital.
Meanwhile, the DTH subscriber total, of the three satellite platforms operating in Hungary, amounted to 894,609, and there were also 105,007 subscribers to the MinDig TV pay-DTT platform.
All told, there were 2,282,293 digital TV subscriptions in Hungary, while the estimated total number of TV subscriptions was 3,467,000.
UPC (26.9%), Telekom (25.3%) and Digi (24.4%) were the leading providers irrespective of pay-TV services irrespective of technology, with Invitel, the next largest player, claiming a 4.4% share of the market.
