Lithuania’s Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) has been informed by the Swedish Broadcasting Commission (SBC) about an action it has take against the Russian channel RTR Planeta.
According to the LRTK, it found late last year that RTR Planeta broadcast a programme that had incited to war and hatred and was in violation of the Public Information Act.
It adds that in accordance with the procedure laid down by the EU, it then informed the European Commission, the broadcaster and the SBC, with which RTR Planeta is registered.
The SBC has since referred the matter to the police as it is not authorised to evaluate broadcast content.
Last month the LRTK ordered RTR Planeta to moved to TV packages in Lithuania for which an additional fee is payable.
