Combining the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) and National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) is one of the main priorities of Poland’s new Ministry of Digitisation.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, the digitisation minister Anna Strezynska added that its other priorities are the revision of the Digital Poland Operational Programme and lowering the costs of telecom investments.
Strezynska said that she had personally been calling for combining the two regulators for the past 11 years, pointing to the discrepancy of increasingly integrated markets and separated regulatory systems and institutions.
Strezynska was appointed to her current role by the new Law and Justice (PiS) government at the beginning of November and was the president of the UKE between 2006-2012.
Commenting on the Polish telecom market in general, she said that it is currently it a waiting mode, particularly for further injections of EU funds, along with regulatory and legislative changes.
