BBC Three has introduced new branding ahead of its move to an online only channel.
The new logo represents a break from the current style of BBC channel logos in that the channel names isn’t actually spelt out.
It’s planned that all the channel’s long-form comedy, drama and documentaries will be made available through new online destinations to be launched soon, as well as via BBC Three on BBC iPlayer, and on linear TV on BBC One or BBC Two.
The channel is committing 20% of its budget to new forms of content including short form video, picture galleries, animation, blogs.
Niki Carr, Head of Marketing, BBC Three: “The new icon represents BBC Three’s three pillars, make me think, make me laugh and give me a voice. That is what new BBC Three is all about.”
BBC Three has produced a short video on the rebranding, based on the satirical comedy W1A.
