Disney, Belga deals for SPT’s Film1

December 26, 2015 12.56 Europe/London By Robert Briel

katniss-everdeen-the-hunger-gamesSony Pictures Television’s (SPT) Film1 channel has signed new long term deals with Disney / Marvel and independent distributor, Belga Films.

Less than six months after acquiring Holland’s premium movie service Film1, SPT Networks has moved to boost the programming power of its five linear channels and on demand service with new content additions including Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Disney’s Maleficent as well as titles such as Paddington and the latest edition of The Hunger Games franchise from Belga Films.

The long term deals include linear viewing for Film1’s five thematic (HD) channels as well as TV Everywhere rights, so Film1 subscribers can watch the new additions to the line-up on TV, laptop, tablet and mobile.

SPT’s EVO Western Europe, Kate Marsh: “The introduction of the Disney – Marvel’s titles and the renewal of our longstanding first pay agreement with Belga Films underlines Film1’s position as the first choice for movies in the market, offering more of the latest box office hits than any other service, direct to the screen of your choice.”

Film1’s agreement with Belga Films is a continuation of a longstanding relationship, including the newest instalments of franchise hits The Hunger Games, Divergent and Taken. In the coming months Taken 3, Paddington, Mortdecai and The Gunman as well as the comedy-drama La Famille Bélier will debut on the Film1 service.
